Energy is a significant cost for most businesses and energy efficiency skills are becoming essential for most managers and supervisors. The Energy Efficiency Skill Sets provide a framework for the skills, knowledge and performance required to achieve specific workplace outcomes for energy efficiency.
There are six Energy Efficiency Skill Sets in the MSS11 Sustainability Training Package which cover the skills needed to identify and measure energy consumption and plan energy improvements.
- SS1 Audit energy usage for a work area
- SS2 Determine energy usage
- SS3 Improve energy usage for a process or organisation
- SS4 Improve energy usage for a work area
- SS5 Recommend energy improvements
- SS6 Reduce sustainability risk
About the Skill Sets
The Skill Sets cover skills that are typically applied at team leader/supervisor level through to technician and management levels in a business.
There are two Skill Sets at levels AQF4, AQF5 and AQF8. One Skill Set at each level focuses on auditing and quantifying energy use and making recommendations for improvements. The other focuses on making the decisions and implementing the improvements.
Businesses can use the Skill Sets to make their internal training and performance management systems more energy focused.
Registered Training Organisations can use the Skill Sets as targeted training and assessment programs for businesses who want to improve their energy efficiency. The RTO can issue a nationally recognised Skill Set to successful candidates comprising units of competency from the Sustainable Operations qualifications in the MSS11 Sustainability Training Package.
