Sustainable Operations qualifications overview

The Sustainable Operations qualifications provide the skills and knowledge required to improve an organisation’s sustainability.

The Sustainable Operations qualifications focus inwards – to assist enterprises to improve the sustainability of their own operations and those of their value chain. They focus on how to measure current sustainability performance – especially in terms of use of materials, energy and water – and how to improve on that performance.

They also enable an enterprise to comply with voluntary and mandatory schemes such as carbon trading or carbon tax regimes, National Pollutant Inventory Reporting and the Global Reporting Initiative.

It is important to note that the Sustainable Operations qualifications do not supply technical skills in engineering or operating plant and equipment. Rather they are designed to complement qualifications in production, engineering, maintenance, logistics or other technical skills. They are suitable as a first qualification for employees with a significant sustainability role and as professional development for employees who hold a technical qualification.

There are three qualifications in Sustainable Operations which target different levels in an organisation, at Certificate IV, Diploma and Vocational Graduate Certificate.
