Module 3: Energy procurement

Energy procurement decisions can effect a business’ carbon footprint as well as their bottom line. But procurement decisions need to consider State regulations, the business’ peak demand and load requirements, managing current and future energy needs and trends in energy prices and products.

About the module

This module focuses on how to review energy tariffs, contracts and general procurement practices to reduce costs.

In this module business leaders will access tools and case examples to review current energy procurement practices and identify potential quick wins in areas such as peak demand, load management and tariff structures. In particular the team will be better equipped to:

  • Present information on energy markets including energy prices and site energy baseline data to inform cost savings opportunities
  • Identify, prioritise and align energy procurement cost saving opportunities with the current and future energy demands of the site
  • Engage others from within teams and across the site to progress and monitor energy procurement cost savings
  • Develop action plans to progress procurement cost savings
  • Revisit action plans and monitor progress against targets.
